Collection: Illustrious

Illustrious aims to expand the boundaries of portraiture by incorporating all kinds of characters, often fictional, and granting them the status of "illustrious." Throughout history, portraiture has primarily focused on representing prominent figures, and it is precisely this idea that this series questions.

The project revolves around the concept of "illustriousness": what we expect to find in a portrait, how we represent what we consider important, and, above all, what makes something or someone relevant.

Are historical achievements or contributions to progress what define a person's importance? Undoubtedly, but perhaps we should also acknowledge the mark that other figures—real or fictional—have left on our lives. Perhaps these figures, present in our memory, have been more influential and decisive in our life journey than those who won battles or amassed fortunes that have had little or no impact on us.
